Business Scenario:
Typically there are many product related information documents in use by an organization. Each document details a different aspect of a product. Examples include
inventory availability, marketing information, product divestiture information, indication information, storage requirements, MSDS, order handling, shipment requirements,
and return policies and many, many others.
Unfortunately, the locations and storage types for this information is inconsistent and disparate. Some information is in pdf format, some are stored on a shared drive, and some
are in e-mails. Many times, multiple versions of this information are stored, and there is no way to centrally manage the information as it originates from many different sources.
This can result in an individual finding outdated information, with no way of discovering that there is a later update to the information. Ultimately, this can result in incorrect
product information being communicated within an organization, and also to external customers such as distributors, buyers, and pharmacists.
The Product Reference Online Manual (PROM) is a system, which was custom designed to address the very specific and unique information needs of pharmaceutical
products. It allows for centralized administration of product information, so that all consumers of the information can be assured they are viewing the most
current and accurate information available. Additionally, there is functionality in the system, which assists the product information coordinator to help manage
all the information, such as reminders, workflow, approval, staging, and contact features.
